Transportation Security Administration Directive:
Effective Immediately:
- Cargo from UNKNOWN SHIPPERS cannot be shipped
aboard passenger airlines.
- Only cargo that has been verified and documented
with the carrier as KNOWN SHIPPER status Cargo
can be offered to a passenger air carrier.
Why?
The Transportation
Security Administration (TSA) has determined that
due to the terrorist attack of September 11th,
greater security measures are required in the
transportation of Air Cargo. Hence Emergency
Amendment - 49 CFR 1548.7(d) directs all DAC’s
and IAC's to immediately implement the procedural
changes noted above.
Sending a sales
rep or another representative to a remote area
to perform a KNOWN SHIPPER site inspection is
difficult and can be cost prohibitive.
